Sophia Harmony Projects

The Bore Forest Centre

The Bore Forest Centre is situated in Kenya's Coast province. Working with local people we aim to create a research and volunteering centre on the climate change front line in tropical Africa. Staff and students at the University of Wales Trinity Saint David are supporting the project which is being implemented by the Lampeter based NGO - the Community Carbon Link whose work has been endorsed by the First Minister of Wales. The primary aim of the Forest Centre is to protect tropical forest, and encourage reforestation where trees have been cut down and a key further priority is water management.

The Tairona Sophia Project

The Tairona Heritage Trust exists to support the descendants of the Tairona civilisation of Colombia, including the Kogi. Inspired by Alan Ereira the film and documentary maker, and Honorary Research Fellow at the University of Wales Trinity Saint David, Alan Ereira the Trusts work includes reforestation and other ecological projects. The University's Sophia Centre is sponsoring and assisting the archiving of Ereira's huge archive of film of the Kogi, made during the 1980s during the making of his documentary 'From the Heart of the World - The Elder Brothers' Warning'.
